This year the city where I live, the city of Leeuwarden, The Netherlands, is European Capital of Culture. To celebrate this, The Northern FIlm Festival is longer than usually (5-11th of November).

And this year’s edition will be a special one for me. I’ve worked on a Promo Film as Director of Photography for the ‘New Generation’ programme, together with Dutch director Bart Dokter, drone specialist Theo Galama and filmmaker Jurgen Bakker, Audio Guru Linze Valk, Editor Jurian Gerard, and color grader Robbert Nieuwenhuis, and many others.

In the meantime, I have been in contact with my old Professor Nezih Orhon —who I have not seen in over 10 years, but still talk to on a regular basis— from Turkey, and he will visit the film festival with three of his film students. This plan has been in the making since May this year. I'll also be part of a panel discussion about how to finance films in a non regular way.

Last but most definitely not least, I arranged a workshop/masterclass by the world renowned Cinematographer Geoff Boyle, NSC (see link attached to this post). Plus, for obvious reasons, I’ll be watching a dozen movies during the film festival :)

Needles to say…

It is going to be one hell of a week! :)
